SAEDNEWS: The spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Iran’s seven conditions are met, emphasizing that Tehran’s position has not changed.
According to Saednews, Hassan Qashqavi told reporters on Sunday that “those seven conditions must be fulfilled and finalized” before any reopening of the Strait of Hormuz can be considered.
He said Iran’s position has not changed, explaining that the difference between the developments in Islamabad and New York, which were conveyed through Qatar as an indirect mediator, related only to shortening the timeframe and did not represent any change in Iran’s position or the substance of the issue.
Qashqavi stressed that the decision now rests with US officials, saying they appear to be deeply involved in internal disagreements and are also approaching elections.
The parliamentary official said there is no ambiguity over the substantive issues that would require further negotiations, emphasizing that the main question concerns the sequence and timing of the steps.
“Regarding the timing and sequence, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until those conditions are fulfilled,” Qashqavi said.
He added that “the ball is now in the US court” as to whether Washington will honor the agreement signed by the two presidents.
