Exploring the Island’s Natural Beauty and Wonders

According to Saednews, Taiwan is the largest island in the Taiwan archipelago. It is located in East Asia, in the western Pacific Ocean, off the eastern coast of mainland China. Taiwan is one of the places crossed by the Tropic of Cancer. This mountainous island is covered with tropical and subtropical vegetation.

Taiwan and Its Natural Beauty

Other islands belonging to Taiwan include Penghu, the Pescadores Islands, Green Island, Orchid Island, and the Diaoyutai Islands, which have been under Japanese control since the 1970s.

Taiwan Island consists of two distinct geographical regions. The eastern part, which accounts for two-thirds of the island, features rugged mountains extending from north to south. In the western part, there is a flat, fertile plain where most of Taiwan’s population lives.

Taroko National Park is one of the region’s major tourist attractions, located in the mountainous eastern part of the island. It showcases impressive mountain landscapes, valleys, and distinctive erosion formations created by the rapid flow of river water.

Taiwan has a warm, humid climate with abundant rainfall. Northern Taiwan experiences a rainy season lasting from January to late March, covering approximately three months of winter.

During the summer months, from June to September, all parts of Taiwan experience hot and humid weather. In winter, the central and southern parts of the island are relatively sheltered from monsoon winds. In May and June, Taiwan is affected by the East Asian rainy season known as Meiyu, characterized by rainfall between spring and summer.

Natural disasters, including tropical storms and earthquakes, are common occurrences in Taiwan.
