SAEDNEWS: Following the arrest of illegal hunters in Shahroud and a review of footage from cameras found with the offenders, authorities discovered evidence revealing the killing of a female leopard in the forests of northern Iran.
According to a report by Saed News’ social affairs service, following the arrest of a group of illegal hunters in the mountainous areas of Shahroud, authorities ordered a review of footage recorded by the suspects’ cameras. The order was issued with the cooperation and special attention of the judicial authorities in Bastam, based on reports received and the hunting equipment seized from the group.
A detailed examination of the recorded footage revealed images of the carcass of a Persian leopard, which had reportedly been hunted approximately one month earlier in the forests of northern Iran.
The cameras also contained numerous images documenting the illegal hunting of valuable wildlife species, including red deer, roe deer, wild sheep, and wild goats.
One of the most distressing aspects of the case was that the leopard killed by the hunters was a female. In their statements, the suspects claimed that they had hunted the animal because it had attacked their livestock.
The case is now being pursued seriously, with the necessary measures underway to investigate all aspects of the incident and take legal action against any violations in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
The suspects’ case has been referred to the judicial authorities for further investigation and appropriate legal decisions.
