SAEDNEWS: In the report below, we will talk about strange stories from weddings.
According to Saednews reports, several disturbing incidents from different times and places highlight how weddings—normally joyful events—have been overshadowed by tragedy, violence, and chaos.
A tragic road accident occurred on the wedding day of a young couple from Indianapolis. While Lauren and Tom were heading downtown to take their wedding photos, the minibus carrying their guests was involved in a collision. The impact threw the vehicle into the middle of an intersection, injuring many guests and killing one of the groom’s groomsmen.
In a matter of seconds, the happiest day of their lives turned into a nightmare. Upon arriving at the hospital, the couple learned that their friend had died and saw 14 injured guests being treated in the emergency room. To cope with the tragedy, they held a small ceremony in a hospital conference room and later held a memorial for their friend James.
In another case, six bridesmaids were waiting inside a limousine outside a church in Massachusetts before the ceremony. Suddenly, a man attacked the vehicle with a hammer, threatened the driver, and ordered everyone out.
The shocked bridesmaids quickly fled while the attacker drove away with the limousine. Despite the chaos, the bridesmaids still proceeded to the church ceremony and only informed guests afterward, after the event had ended. The area outside the church was later surrounded by police.
A 1966 incident in Baltimore involved a bride named Mildred Collins, who discovered her fiancé at the home of another woman shortly before the wedding.
When she confronted them, a violent confrontation occurred. The bride attacked a woman inside the house with a knife, and firearms were also involved. The fiancé ultimately killed his bride during the conflict and injured two other women. He later claimed self-defense during trial.
At one wedding reception, what seemed like a joke quickly turned into terror when the groom’s “right-hand man” pulled out a gun and threatened the DJ.
He fired a shot into the air and abducted the DJ before fleeing. Guests were shocked, as the attacker had only recently been assigned a trusted role in the wedding. Police arrested him two months later.
In 1999, Gladys Ricart of Manhattan was posing for wedding photos when her former boyfriend arrived armed with a gun and shot her three times in front of guests and family members.
Despite his claim of self-defense, the crime was widely documented by witnesses and video recordings. He was later sentenced to 30 years in prison.
In a 1899 Missouri wedding, guests were enjoying dinner when gunshots were fired through a window. A child was first injured, followed by the bride and groom, who were both killed at the table.
The attacker was later identified as a rejected former suitor of the bride. He was eventually found dead by suicide, leaving behind a confession letter.
In India, a large wedding celebration with around 500 guests turned into a disaster when a fire broke out in the venue. The blaze, reportedly caused by overheated photography equipment, quickly spread across the hall.
The roof caught fire and collapsed, trapping guests inside. At least 64 people were killed in the incident, including the groom, while many others died in the stampede or from structural collapse.
These incidents show how weddings—meant to symbolize love and celebration—can sometimes be tragically disrupted by accidents, violence, or unforeseen disasters.
