SAEDNEWS: Iran Says Hormuz Strait Insecurity Stems from US-Israeli Aggression Since February 28

Araghchi: US and Israeli Actions Behind Insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz

According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz stems directly from aggressive actions by the United States and Israel, which began on February 28, 2026, and have continued in various forms.

Araghchi made the remarks during a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers summit in Baghdad. The two officials discussed bilateral relations and key regional and international developments.

Describing Palestine as the foremost issue facing the Islamic world, Araghchi cited the genocide of Palestinians and crimes committed in the occupied territories. He called for urgent, coordinated action by the Islamic ummah to end the occupation, halt the genocide, and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to diplomacy and regional peace, stating that Tehran has consistently pursued diplomatic solutions to reduce tensions. However, he accused Washington of repeatedly violating its commitments, including breaking its pledge just two weeks after signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war.

The Iranian foreign minister also updated his Egyptian counterpart on the latest diplomatic consultations conducted through mediators.
