According to Saednews, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has warned that proposals to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip remain under consideration, stressing that Cairo would oppose any such move with full force and describing it as a “red line” for Arab and Muslim countries.
In an interview with the Palestinian Wafa news agency, Abdelatty said so-called “voluntary displacement” could not genuinely be considered voluntary if circumstances were created that made life in Gaza impossible. Forcing residents to leave under such conditions would amount to coercion and violate international law and the rights of people living under occupation, he said.
Abdelatty stressed that Egypt “will not accept and will not allow” the displacement of Palestinians, reaffirming Cairo’s position that Palestinians should remain on their land.
Turning to the occupied West Bank, Abdelatty expressed concern about increasing violations against Palestinians. He described the developments as “silent annexation” and “de facto annexation,” warning that they could further undermine prospects for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
