Controversial Elder’s Fantastical Claims About Iran’s Military Capability Continue

According to the political news service of SaedNews, U.S. President Donald Trump, in his interview with Fox News—whose full version was aired early Friday morning—repeated claims that have even been denied by officials within his own administration.

While American media, in multiple reports over recent days, have stated that much of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities remain intact, Trump said: “Iran has been completely destroyed militarily, and we have imposed a total blockade on them. No ship can enter Iran.”

Hours earlier, Brad Cooper, commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), claimed in a report to the Senate that Iran’s military capabilities have been weakened, but Iranian forces still pose a threat.

Trump once again emphasized that the United States will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. He said: “They are crazy and would use this weapon against Israel, the Middle East, and Europe. If Iranian leaders acquire a nuclear bomb, they will use it against us.”

Trump at the center of criticism

Donald Trump is facing heavy pressure inside the United States due to launching a war described as aimless, which has failed to achieve all of its objectives.

Fuel prices in the U.S. have risen by more than 50% compared to before the war, reaching over 4.50 dollars, and essential goods have also become more expensive.

A few days ago, three senior members from different committees of the U.S. House of Representatives stated that Donald Trump has failed to achieve his three main objectives in the war against Iran and called for an immediate withdrawal from the conflict.

Gregory Meeks, ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Adam Smith, ranking member of the Armed Services Committee; and Jim Himes, ranking member of the Select Intelligence Committee wrote in a letter on Friday to Trump: “This chosen war has not achieved any of the administration’s stated goals: ending Iran’s nuclear ambitions, removing highly enriched uranium from Iran, or regime change.”

Response to criticism over costs

Despite this, Trump said in his Fox News interview that the increase in oil prices as a result of the war with Iran has been much smaller than expected.

He also claimed that oil prices would fall below pre-war levels after the war ends.

Trump further described the rising costs as the price Americans must pay to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

In another part of his remarks, Trump also spoke in a commanding tone, urging Iran to reach a deal with him. He claimed: “My patience is running out, and Iranians must make a deal.”

A few days earlier, The Atlantic reported that Trump is tired and frustrated with continuing the war with Iran and is looking for a way to exit it.
