Reaction of the Armed Forces General Staff to the Designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a Terrorist Organization

According to the political desk of SaedNews, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement in response to the European Union’s designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

The statement reads:

“The illogical, irresponsible, and spiteful action of the European Union has undoubtedly been carried out in unconditional obedience to the hegemonic and inhumane policies of the United States and the Zionist regime. It reflects the depth of hostility and malice of the leaders of this bloc toward the mature nation of Iran, its armed forces, and the security and independence of the powerful Islamic Republic of Iran.

Such a baseless and irrational decision, made under the pressure of the delusional and foolish U.S. president and the terrorist, child-killing Zionist regime, constitutes a clear violation of international laws and regulations, the Charter of the United Nations, and the fundamental principle of respect for national sovereignty.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has always been a legitimate, powerful institution at the forefront of combating U.S. state-sponsored terrorism and the dangerous Zionist regime. Emerging from the people and deeply rooted in the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, it has defended the proud and determined Iranian nation, as well as peoples suffering from organized terrorist groups supported by U.S. and Israeli leaders and destabilizing armies, with backing from certain European countries. In this divine and humanitarian mission, it has sacrificed thousands of martyrs and veterans.

Undoubtedly, a serious question arises for nations and world leaders: how can the European Union, with complete brazenness and shamelessness, accuse a powerful, anti-terrorism institution to please and satisfy Trump and Netanyahu—the world’s leading sponsors of terrorism?

Clearly, this accusation against the IRGC aims to support, strengthen, expand, and legitimize terrorism globally and regionally.

The sacrifices of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in fighting terrorist groups, including ISIS and the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK)—which have received direct support from U.S. and European leaders—stand as clear evidence of the unparalleled role of this revolutionary institution in ensuring regional peace and security.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing its firm determination to decisively combat terrorist groups, warns that the dangerous consequences of this hostile and provocative decision will be the direct responsibility of European policymakers.

Relying on faith, expertise, and the support of the beloved and heroic Iranian people, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran—especially the IRGC—will continue, with stronger resolve and greater power than ever before, to safeguard the country’s dignity, independence, and national and regional security, while continuously enhancing their defensive capabilities.”
