SAEDNEWS: In an unusual and widely reported medical case, a 73-year-old woman in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India has delivered twin daughters with the help of in vitro fertilization (IVF). The delivery was carried out via a cesarean section.
According to Saed News, Dr. Emma Sankar, the attending physician, announced that both the mother and newborns are in good physical condition. Mangayamma Yaramati said that she and her 82-year-old husband had long dreamed of having children, but had not been able to fulfill this wish until now.
Her husband, Mastitarama Rajarao, expressed his happiness on Thursday after the birth of the babies, saying: “We are very happy.” However, just one day later, Mr. Rajarao suffered a sudden stroke and is now receiving medical care in the hospital.
When asked who would take responsibility for the children in the event of any incident due to their advanced age, he replied: “Nothing is in our control; whatever is destined will happen. Everything depends on God’s will.”
Having children was very important to the couple, and Ms. Yaramati had previously said that people in their village considered her a childless woman.
She also added: “We tried many times and visited many doctors. That is why I am now experiencing the happiest period of my life.”
In 2016, another Indian woman named Daljinder Kaur, who was over 70 years old, also gave birth to a son.
