SAEDNEWS: Three separate shootings in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood left at least four people dead and 15 others injured early November 1, officials confirmed.
According to Saednews, A wave of gun violence across the United States during Halloween celebrations left at least 24 people dead and 94 others injured, according to police reports cited by The New York Times.
The shootings occurred in several states, from California to Delaware, taking place at nightclubs, costume shops, stadiums and areas surrounding university campuses.
Experts say the combination of alcohol, drug use, large crowds and easy access to firearms can increase the risk of violence during holiday celebrations.
Although it remains unclear whether this year's incidents were more severe than those of previous holiday weekends, research has shown that Halloween is historically associated with increased violence.
According to an analysis of FBI crime data from Boston between 2005 and 2009, conducted by Northeastern University criminologist James Alan Fox, October 31 is the third most violent day of the year, behind only July 4 and January 1.
For children and teenagers, however, Halloween is considered the most dangerous day of the year. Fox explained that young people are often outside at night and come into contact with strangers.
In Detroit, a five-year-old girl wearing her Halloween costume was shot in the chest while playing in a room at the back of her home after trick-or-treating. According to police officials, the child told her mother, "I think I've been shot." She remains in stable condition.
In Jacksonville, Florida, 13 people were shot in two separate incidents, leaving two dead.

Ten people were shot, including a 20-year-old man who died and a 15-year-old girl who was injured but remained in stable condition. Another victim was in critical condition.

Authorities said there was no evidence linking the incidents, and the number of casualties could increase.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said officers had been adequately deployed because they anticipated large crowds on a Saturday night coinciding with Halloween.
Videos and photographs shared online showed people fleeing through the streets as gunfire erupted in Deep Ellum, an area known for its bars, restaurants and live music venues.
The neighbourhood has already been facing growing public safety concerns amid a rise in crime. At least seven bars and restaurants, including several long-established businesses, have closed there during 2026.
By the morning of November 1, much of the area had become deserted. Police had blocked off sections of the neighbourhood, while rubbish and debris covered the streets.
Describing the violence, Comeaux said the situation was completely unacceptable.
Despite research indicating that Halloween carries an increased risk of violent incidents, experts say preventing such attacks remains a major challenge.
Alexis Piquero, a criminologist at the University of Miami and former director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics under the Biden administration, noted that police cannot be present everywhere at once, including inside every bar or parking lot.
The widespread incidents highlight the difficulties law enforcement faces in controlling gun violence during crowded public celebrations.
