According to Saed News, citing Hamshahri, the village of Torshanbeh has a history dating back 180 years. It's a place where you can enjoy the beautiful nature and breathe in the fresh air while also exploring historical landmarks.

A Green and Historic Village

Torshanbeh is blessed with fertile land, where walnut and peach trees, along with various vegetables and herbs, thrive in its gardens. The branches and fruits of many trees spill over the clay walls of the village gardens, giving the narrow alleys a charming atmosphere. Some locals recall that, until a few years ago, the village fields were full of small sour mangoes. They say the area was originally called "Torsh Anbeh" (meaning sour mango), which over time evolved into "Torshanbeh" in local dialects. It's rare to find a house or garden in Torshanbeh without at least a few trees or saplings planted in front of it.

A Safavid-Era Relic

The village is home to several historical landmarks. While some, like the caravanserai and the adobe fortress, have been lost, others like "Tappeh Tala" (Golden Hill) and the ancient icehouse still attract visitors. The icehouse, shaped like a large sugarloaf, stands out and is known as the largest traditional icehouse in the Tehran area. It has been restored with the help of the Cultural Heritage Organization and dates back to the Safavid era. It is listed among Iran's national heritage sites. The total area of the Torshanbeh icehouse is 460 square meters, with 200 square meters comprising the main structure. "Tappeh Tala" is a mound of clay that remains from the grand walls and towers of the old fortress, known by locals as the Golden Hill. The 300-hectare village also contains an old cemetery, where nearly all the gravestones were cut and carved by hand. No one has been buried there for many years.
