Saednews: After the success of Colossal company in cloning wild wolves, Elon Musk now has his eyes set on the terrifying wolves, aiming to keep this species as a pet.
Saednews: According to the Science and Technology Service of Saednews, despite the recent strained relationship between Elon Musk, the famous billionaire, and Donald Trump, the President of the United States, these issues have not affected Musk's active presence on social media.
Recently, a news report revealed that the biotechnology company Colossal Biosciences has successfully genetically engineered three wolves that closely resemble the extinct dire wolves.
As a result, it seems that these terrifying dire wolves, thanks to scientific advancements and the exceptional work of Colossal, have now been brought back from extinction. This has led Musk to make a bizarre request: to have a unique, strange, and extinct pet.
Musk's Strange Request
Musk initially posted an image of a Time magazine cover on his official Twitter page, where the word "extinct" was crossed out on the image of the wolf, and at the same time, a wolf cub named Remus was introduced.
Remus is one of the first examples of a dire wolf born on October 1, 2024, and Colossal successfully cloned them. Alongside this image, Musk also shared another photo of the cubs resting on an iron bed from the TV series Game of Thrones.
Following the release of this news, Elon Musk made a specific request: "Please make me a miniature woolly mammoth."
The Main Goal of Colossal
Ben Lamm and George Church, the founders of Colossal, have always sought to bring back the woolly mammoth and make rapid progress in the field of de-extinction. Although a full recreation of the woolly mammoth has not yet been achieved, the company announced last month that it had made significant progress, successfully breeding woolly mice.
Ben Lamm, the CEO of Colossal, stated, "The woolly mouse is a milestone in our de-extinction mission. By engineering several cold-resistant traits derived from the evolutionary paths of the mammoth, we have demonstrated our ability to recreate the complex genetic combinations that nature took millions of years to create."
Doug Burgum, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, also praised this achievement, calling it the beginning of an exciting era of scientific wonders.
However, Vincent Lynch, a biologist at the University of Buffalo who was not involved in this project, said, "Currently, we can only create something that looks like another species without truly reviving that extinct species."
After the birth of Romulus and Remus (whom the company introduced as "the first animals brought back from extinction"), the third dire wolf, named Calisi, was born in January 2025.
Reports indicate that this species of wolf went extinct around 13,000 years ago.
The Flood of Reactions After Musk’s Tweet
After Musk's strange and unique tweet, a large number of users on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) expressed their wishes and desires for the return of other extinct species. Some even suggested creating a real-life Jurassic Park.
One user asked the Grok AI assistant to suggest a name for Musk's future pet mammoth, and the AI chose the name "Quark."
Another user used AI to generate an image of "Elon Musk with his pet woolly mammoth."
In the comments section of this post, responses such as "They’re playing with fire, they might even bring back dinosaurs; hasn’t anyone seen the Jurassic Park movie?" and "Forget it! The Velociraptor is the only real choice" can also be seen.
