SAEDNEWS: The Karnataka High Court in India has dismissed Social Media platform X’s complaint against the new content removal regulations.
According to the Technology Service of Saed News, citing Reuters, the Karnataka High Court in India on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, dismissed a lawsuit filed by the social media platform X challenging the government’s new content removal mechanism. The judge ruled that the platform is required to comply with domestic laws, noting that freedom of expression does not come without accountability. The decision dealt a setback to Elon Musk’s efforts to resist internet regulations in one of X’s largest markets.
X had argued that the new content removal system violated the constitution and amounted to government censorship. However, Justice M. Nagaprasana stated in the ruling: “Any platform operating within our country must accept that freedom comes with responsibility.” The verdict came after months of legal disputes, during which X’s lawyers argued that even “ordinary government officials” were empowered to issue content removal orders.
