The Lavish Wedding of Naser al-Din Shah’s Daughter at Golestan Palace: Extravagance and Grandeur 130 Years Ago + Photos

According to the society section of SaedNews, citing Faradid, Aziz al-Sultan, nicknamed Malijak II, was the nephew of one of the Shah’s wives, Amineh Aqdas. During his childhood, he enjoyed extraordinary favor with Naser al-Din Shah, so much so that the Shah’s affection for him seemed even greater than that shown to his own children.

At the age of 16, Aziz al-Sultan married Akhtar al-Dowleh, a daughter of Naser al-Din Shah. Their wedding was one of the most lavish and expensive ceremonies of the time, held across multiple palaces over several days. People from all walks of life attended, including courtiers, clergy, and ordinary citizens.
