Saed News: Waltz, a staunch opponent of Iran and a strong advocate of military action, is no longer the U.S. National Security Advisor, and it is said that Witkoff is likely to replace him. This news is highly significant for Iran and the ongoing negotiations.
According to the political news service of Saed News, as the fourth round of negotiations between Iran and the United States is postponed, changes are taking place within Trump’s team that seem likely to have a significant impact on the course of the talks with Iran. Donald Trump has dismissed Michael Waltz, the U.S. National Security Advisor, and announced that he will be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, will temporarily assume the role of National Security Advisor as well.
According to Politico, Witkoff may replace Waltz, although media reports indicate that he has declined the offer.
In any case, the developments in Trump’s team are highly meaningful for Iran. As such, the announcement triggered numerous reactions across social media and media outlets. Below are some of those reactions:
Ahmad Zeidabadi, writing on his Telegram channel, stated:
"In his first term as president, Donald Trump initially selected a number of 'wise' individuals as his colleagues in the U.S. government, but shortly afterward, he dismissed them one by one and replaced them with a group of aggressive and extremist figures.
In this new term, Trump may be taking the opposite path—gradually removing the newly recruited extremists and replacing them with more rational and moderate individuals.
The dismissal of Michael Waltz, the White House National Security Advisor, may mark the beginning of this path. I hope so."
Mohammad Hossein Khoshvaqt, a political analyst, wrote on X:
"Trump’s dismissal of the National Security Advisor and the appointment of Rubio to a dual role indicates that the internal disputes in the White House have been resolved in favor of the faction supporting a nuclear deal with Iran.
Trump’s full enforcement of oil sanctions is actually an effort to gain more leverage in negotiations with Iran."
Abbas Akhoundi, former Minister of Roads, said in an interview:
"With the delay in the next round of Iran-U.S. talks, speculation about the failure of negotiations had begun. However, the dispatch of Trump's son ended all those rumors. He clearly showed that, just like inside Iran, a group affiliated with the neocons and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies—a staunchly pro-Israel organization—is actively trying to sabotage the talks in the U.S. as well."
He added:
"Simultaneously, news emerged about Waltz and his deputy stepping down from their national security roles under Trump. Waltz is one of Iran’s most hardline opponents. Therefore, there’s still no reason for pessimism. I still believe all historical factors necessary for a final reconciliation between Iran and the U.S. and a resolution of their conflict are in place, and the historic moment for an agreement has arrived."
Akhoundi emphasized:
"So, these developments shouldn’t be interpreted as the end of the road. In my opinion, the will of both sides to reach an agreement is too strong to collapse so easily. Of course, the negotiation process must be safeguarded."
Siavash Ardalan, a BBC analyst, wrote:
"With strong rumors of the dismissal of Mike Waltz and his deputy, and his possible replacement with Steve Witkoff, one of the loudest voices supporting military action against Iran and opposing negotiation and compromise is leaving the Trump administration."
Mohsen Milani, Iranian-American scholar and author, wrote:
"Mr. Trump has fired Michael Waltz, the National Security Advisor and a staunch opponent of Iran. All the better."
Mohammad Hossein Karimipour, media activist, wrote:
"If the news of Mike Waltz’s dismissal as Trump’s National Security Advisor is confirmed, it’s good news for the ongoing negotiations. He may well have been the most anti-Iran member of Netanyahu’s allies in Trump’s team!"
Akbar Ganji wrote:
"Breaking, very important: One of the neocon warmongers is out of the Trump administration.
Fox News: Michael Waltz, U.S. National Security Advisor, has stepped down."
