According to the political desk of Saed News, quoting Fars News Agency, David Ignatius, a columnist for The Washington Post, reported early Wednesday that Steven F. Vekoff, the U.S. President’s special representative for West Asia, is prepared to travel to Tehran.

In an op-ed for the Washington Post, Ignatius wrote:
“Two informed government officials told me that Vekoff would likely travel to Tehran if he were invited.”

He continued, citing U.S. officials:
“Vekoff’s team has sent messages [to Iran] seeking direct talks via Oman, where a meeting is scheduled for Saturday. If the talks are not direct, Vekoff may not travel to Oman.”

This U.S. official, claiming they will not be deceived, argued that what’s needed to overcome the deep mistrust between the two sides is a “comprehensive discussion” and a “mutual agreement.”
Meanwhile, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has emphasized that Saturday’s talks in Oman will be only indirect.
