SAEDNEWS: In a high-level Baghdad meeting, Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji and Iran’s Ali Larijani emphasized preventing security violations against neighbors, discussed Gaza humanitarian crises, and reinforced bilateral security cooperation.
According to Saed News citing ISNA, Qasim Al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Advisor, met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and stated:
The Iraqi government is seriously committed to preventing any security violations aimed at aggression against any of its neighboring countries.
Al-Araji’s office reported that Larijani praised the significant role of the Iraqi people in serving the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), describing Iraqis as "brave and generous." He said that the road to Karbala today is a testament to the generosity of the Iraqi people.
The office further explained that the meeting included discussions on implementing the security agreement signed between the two countries. They also reviewed the security situation in the region and the crimes of hunger and massacre against the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, stressing "the importance of international community action to stop these crimes."
Larijani also commended the Iraqi government’s balanced foreign policy and the security and stability it brings to Iraq and the broader region.
On Monday, Qasim Al-Araji discussed cooperation and coordination between Iraq and Iran with Ali Larijani.
The Iraqi news agency (WAFA) reporter noted that Al-Araji welcomed the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council at Baghdad airport.
Ali Larijani arrived in Iraq on Monday morning on his first official visit and is scheduled to travel to Lebanon afterward.
