SAEDNEWS: Iran should have a powerful Army to safeguard the nation, Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami said, stressing that the country has no choice but to get stronger in the current circumstances.
Speaking at the Medical University of the Army on the occasion of National Doctor’s Day, Major General Hatami emphasized that in today’s world, there is no alternative to becoming strong and capable.
“We need a powerful Army to protect our nation. A strong Army is one whose every component carries out its missions and duties correctly,” he said.
The commander highlighted the Army’s crucial role in safeguarding Iran’s independence, territorial integrity, and the Islamic Republic’s system, saying, “This mission is important for every country, but in Iran, due to our strategic and geopolitical position, it is even more significant and exceptional.”
General Hatami noted that this has been the case throughout Iran’s history because of the country’s unique circumstances.
Denouncing the Israeli atrocities, he warned that the region is home to “an occupying and child-killing regime” whose doctrine insists that no country should be stronger than it. “We live in a world where those claiming power dictate peace through power, meaning unconditional surrender.”
Referring to the recent war imposed on Iran, the commander stated that even while the officials were negotiating, the country was attacked by the Israeli regime and the US in violation of the international norms and human rights principles.
The Army chief also praised the medical and healthcare personnel of the Army, highlighting their vital role during the 12-day war.
“The Army’s medical staff stood proudly alongside frontline troops in the air, ground, and air defense forces, as well as the wider Iranian nation, striving to alleviate the suffering of our people,” he said.
On June 13, the Zionist regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, targeting military, nuclear, and residential areas for 12 consecutive days. The United States later escalated the conflict by striking three of Iran’s nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22.
Iran’s Armed Forces delivered an immediate and forceful response. The IRGC Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes under Operation True Promise III, inflicting significant damage and heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.
In retaliation for the US attacks, Iranian forces also targeted al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar —the largest American military installation in West Asia— with a barrage of missiles.
The confrontation came to an end on June 24, when a ceasefire was enforced.
