SAEDNEWS: Khalil Shirgholami, the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, met with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday before leaving for his mission.
During the meeting, Shirgholami presented his plans to further strengthen Tehran-Yerevan bilateral ties under the framework of the good-neighborly policy and to expand cooperation across various sectors.
Foreign Minister Araghchi, wishing the new ambassador success in Yerevan, described Iran-Armenia relations as both civilizational and historical.
He highlighted the importance of leveraging all available capacities to deepen cooperation and ties between the two countries.
Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Armenia, Shirgholami served as Deputy Director for Research and Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Center for Political and International Studies.
