SAEDNEWS: During a meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed China’s respect for Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy and pledged support for Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty amid global tensions.
According to Saed News, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Beijing on Tuesday and stated that China respects Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy and supports Iran in protecting its national sovereignty.
President Pezeshkian traveled to China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, held from August 31 to September 31 in Tianjin Province. He is also scheduled to attend the Chinese military parade on September 3.
According to RIA Novosti, Xi Jinping told his Iranian counterpart that China appreciates Iran’s repeated emphasis on its commitment to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and respects Iran’s right to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The Chinese president emphasized that Beijing “supports Iran in protecting its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity, as well as in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests through negotiations.”
He added that “Tehran-Beijing relations have been tested amid turbulent international conditions and continue to develop in a stable and successful manner.”
Xi further noted that China will continue to uphold justice, pursue solutions regarding Iran’s nuclear issue that encompass the interests of all parties, and maintain unceasing efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
