According to the History and Culture section of SaedNews, citing FaraDide, if the dating is accurate, this animal lived right alongside the first dinosaurs. These prehistoric creatures are believed to have first appeared during the Triassic period, when all continents were connected as a massive landmass called Pangaea. The discovery is still under further investigation, but a fact sheet about the find has been shared with the Associated Press. Early reports indicate that this dinosaur was a top predator from the Herrerasauridae family, a group of carnivorous, bipedal dinosaurs that may represent the most complete examples of their kind.
When heavy rains stripped the area bare, a team of paleontologists—including Rodrigo Temp Muller from the Federal University of Santa Maria—uncovered several bones. With further excavation, they realized that much of the skeleton remained intact, revealing an ancient animal roughly 2.5 meters long.
