US Congress Releases 33,000 Pages Of Jeffrey Epstein Files; Trump Called It A “Hoax” While White House Resists Full Disclosure

According to Saed News; The House oversight committee on Tuesday published more than 33,000 pages of records from the Department of Justice related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who died by suicide in 2019 while facing sex-trafficking charges.

The documents, which include old court filings, bodycam footage from police raids, and interviews tied to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, were largely already available to the public. Their release coincided with renewed attention on the case and growing pressure in Congress for transparency.

Donald Trump, once part of Epstein’s wealthy social circle, has recently avoided questions about his past ties. Earlier this year, he sued the Wall Street Journal over a report alleging he had written Epstein a birthday note. The president has dismissed the current controversy as a “hoax.”

The White House has urged Republicans not to support a bipartisan petition that would force the release of all Epstein-related records. Committee chair James Comer insisted the petition was unnecessary since subpoenas had already secured the documents, though it remains unclear how much more will be released.

House speaker Mike Johnson called the petition “moot,” while joining a bipartisan group of lawmakers in meeting Epstein survivors. Yet Democrats criticized Republicans for publishing what they described as largely recycled material.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll earlier this year showed most Americans, including a majority of Republicans, believe the government is concealing details about Epstein’s crimes. Survivors and lawmakers say the newly released files do little to answer those questions.
