SAEDNEWS: The arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, accused of killing Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, has fueled a wave of online speculation about whether the young man had ties to the so-called Groyper movement, an alt-right faction associated with Nick Fuentes.
According to Saed News, Robinson was taken into custody in Utah on Friday and has been charged with aggravated murder following Kirk’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University. State records show Robinson had no prior criminal history. Family members told investigators that in recent years he had grown more politically outspoken and had openly criticized Kirk before the attack.
Almost immediately after Robinson’s name and images were released, social media users began dissecting his online persona. One photo in particular — showing Robinson in a black Adidas tracksuit crouching in a “Slav squat” pose — drew attention. Critics claimed the image mirrored a well-known meme of Pepe the Frog in the same stance, a motif popular in fringe internet communities and often co-opted by Groypers.
The Groypers, led by far-right commentator Nick Fuentes, are known for their online campaigns, trollish tactics, and clashes with mainstream conservatives, including Charlie Kirk himself. While no official evidence has linked Robinson to Fuentes or his network, speculation has gained traction because of the visual cues and his apparent disdain for Kirk’s brand of politics
The so-called “Slav squat” originated on forums like 4chan, where it was used both ironically and politically. For Groypers, it has sometimes become a shorthand symbol of belonging. Yet authorities have not confirmed whether Robinson was connected to the group, leaving the question of his ideological affiliations unresolved.
The case continues to draw national attention, not only because of Kirk’s prominence in conservative circles but also due to its collision with the world of internet memes and far-right subcultures.
