Bruce Willis, 69, was spotted smiling and enjoying a rare drive around Studio City with his bodyguard, offering a brief, uplifting moment amid the actor’s ongoing health struggles — his family has said he’s retired and is being cared for at home following diagnoses of aphasia in 2022 and frontotemporal dementia in 2023.
Bruce Willis flashed a smile while out for a drive around Los Angeles, in a rare public appearance following reports about his health. The actor, 69, rolled down his car window and rested his forearm on the ledge as his bodyguard drove through the Studio City neighborhood.
Photographs show Willis looking upbeat during the short outing; he was wearing a black baseball cap, a matching jacket and a white T-shirt as the vehicle moved through the area.
Willis, who announced his retirement from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, appeared in good spirits on the ride. Last month he was again seen being driven around with his bodyguards.
The actor’s health struggles deepened when his family revealed a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023.
During the Studio City drive Willis kept one hand atop the other as the car moved, smiling at passersby while his bodyguard concentrated on the road.
Since going public with his FTD diagnosis, Willis has stepped back from the spotlight and is focused on receiving care and support from family members.
