Persian Gulf Dispute: Iran Dismisses Arab League Allegations

On Monday night, Iran’s Foreign Ministry firmly rejected the Arab League foreign ministers’ recent accusations, calling them false and baseless, and reaffirmed Iran’s sovereignty over Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb islands. The Ministry also denied claims of interference in Yemen, emphasized Iran’s role in maintaining maritime security in the Persian Gulf, and urged regional unity against the Zionist regime’s aggression.

The statement highlights Iran’s position that its sovereignty over the three islands is indisputable, grounded in historical, geographical, and legal realities. Tehran condemned repeated territorial claims, stressing that such assertions will not alter the status of the islands or Iran’s right to safeguard their security.

Iran also categorically denied accusations of sending military shipments to Yemen, describing them as fabricated claims aimed at diverting attention from the Zionist regime’s ongoing atrocities in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. The Ministry emphasized Iran’s principled policy of good neighborliness, respect for sovereignty, and non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs.

Reiterating its critical role in ensuring maritime security, Iran stressed that it guarantees safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and will take any necessary measures to protect its national interests while maintaining freedom of navigation under international law.

The statement further called for stronger regional cooperation, urging countries to resist divisive external interference and work collectively toward lasting security in West Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman. Iran also welcomed the Arab League’s condemnation of the Zionist regime’s actions in Gaza, reinforcing the need for political, diplomatic, and economic measures to end the atrocities.

Finally, Iran reaffirmed its long-standing support for a WMD-free zone in West Asia, stressing that the region faces a real threat from the Zionist regime’s nuclear arsenal. The Ministry urged regional states to collectively pressure the international community to address this danger and promote stability across the Middle East.
