SAEDNEWS: At least one person was killed and eight others remained trapped Wednesday after a hotel partially collapsed near the banks of the Mosel River in western Germany, police said.
According to SAEDNEWS, Authorities reported that at least 14 people were in a hotel located in the winemaking town of Kroev when it collapsed late Tuesday evening.
According to ABC News, five individuals managed to escape without injury, while nine others remain trapped beneath the rubble, as confirmed by the police.
"Due to the damage, this is an extremely demanding operation, as the building can only be entered by emergency services with the greatest caution," police stated in their announcement.
As of Wednesday morning, one person has been confirmed dead; however, their body has not yet been recovered.
Meanwhile, eight others, some in serious condition, are believed to still be trapped inside, according to police reports.
Search and rescue efforts are currently ongoing as authorities work tirelessly to reach those still missing.
