SAEDNEWS: A 38-Year-Old Mother in Saudi Arabia Gives Birth to a Healthy Baby Four Months After Being Declared Brain Dead
According to Saed News’ social affairs report, Dr. Samer Qarah, head of the Intensive Care Unit at Saad Specialized Hospital in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, said that the woman was transferred to their hospital over four months ago due to her critical condition, while she was carrying an 11-week-old fetus.
He added that the fetus’s needs were met through medication and artificial nutrition in the hospital. However, after a few days, the mother was declared brain-dead. Despite this, hospital specialists, for ethical and religious reasons, tried to sustain the fetus. After 28 weeks and two days of pregnancy, her baby was delivered safely via surgery.
The attending physician added that tests conducted on the newborn show that the baby is in full health.
