A Look at Tehran’s Jurassic Park: Introducing Dinosaurs

According to Saed News, Tehran’s Jurassic Park spans approximately 30,000 square meters and houses 28 different types of life-sized, moving dinosaur sculptures. The park officially opened in Esfand 1392 (March 2014) and became accessible to the public in 1393 (2015). Ticket prices are 1,000 Tomans on weekdays and 2,500 Tomans on weekends.

One of the park’s standout features is that all the dinosaur sculptures are built to their real-life proportions. These animated figures, complete with special effects and sounds, bring the prehistoric era vividly to life. The dinosaurs are designed with remarkable realism, capable of moving their bodies and limbs, creating an immersive experience for visitors.

Such parks are rare, existing only in select countries worldwide and across Europe. Tehran’s Jurassic Park is the first thematic park of its kind in the province and ranks among the region’s top scientific attractions. Beyond the sculptures, the park educates visitors about each dinosaur’s lifestyle, diet, and species names.

The park also offers family-friendly amenities, including a spacious parking lot accommodating 80 cars and six buses, open areas, dedicated workshops, classrooms with films, a 3D cinema, a 500-square-meter area of buffets and booths, a fountain, and a special on-site café named “Jura Shop.”

Where Does the Name “Jurassic” Come From?

The park’s name traces back to Michael Crichton’s novel Jurassic Park. Crichton—a writer, director, screenwriter, physician, and television producer best known for his sci-fi and techno-thriller works—introduced it for the first time. Three years later, in 1993, Steven Spielberg adapted the novel into a blockbuster film. The movie’s massive success inspired numerous parks around the world to adopt the “Jurassic” name. Iran followed suit in 1393 (2015), opening its own Jurassic Park in Tehran.
