Saed News: Apple apparently intends to add an automatic conversation deletion feature to the new version of the Siri voice assistant; a feature that could become one of the most important differences between Siri and competitors such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
According to SAEDNEWS, as competition among technology companies in the field of artificial intelligence becomes increasingly intense every day, Apple is trying to enter the field from a different path; a path that focuses more than anything on “privacy.”
Recent reports indicate that the redesigned version of Siri may be able to automatically delete users’ conversations after a certain period of time; a feature that Apple will likely introduce as its competitive advantage against AI giants.
According to a report published by Bloomberg, Apple will introduce a new generation of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference, known as WWDC, which will be held in June. This version is said to be the most significant transformation of this voice assistant in recent years.
In recent years, Apple has faced significant pressure due to falling behind the wave of generative AI. While companies such as Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI are rapidly releasing new intelligent tools, many believe that the redesign of Siri is Apple’s most important opportunity to re-enter serious competition in artificial intelligence.
According to the report, Apple will likely introduce, for the first time, a standalone application for Siri powered by Google’s Gemini AI model, offering users an experience similar to chatbots like ChatGPT. However, the key difference will lie in how user data is managed.
It is said that the new version of Siri will have stricter limitations on storing and using user data. One possible feature is the ability to automatically delete conversations after 30 days or one year; similar to a feature currently available in Apple’s Messages app. However, users will also be able to choose to keep conversations permanently if they wish.
Apple has long made privacy one of its most important marketing pillars. The company has repeatedly emphasized that its business model is based on selling hardware, not collecting user data for targeted advertising—something that distinguishes it from many of its tech competitors.
However, some analysts believe Apple’s strong focus on privacy may be an attempt to mask Siri’s lag behind more powerful competitors. In fact, although Apple emphasizes security and data protection, Bloomberg reports that part of the AI processing may be handled by Google, which could raise questions about the true independence and security of the system.
The new version of Siri is of strategic importance for Apple. Many experts believe that the success or failure of this project could determine Apple’s future position in the artificial intelligence market—a market that has now become the most important battleground for global tech companies.
