According to the Contemporary History Studies Institute, Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar (1251–1304 SH) was the sixth ruler of the Qajar dynasty. He ascended to the throne in 1285 SH and opposed the Constitutional Revolution. He ordered the shelling of the National Consultative Assembly (Majles) and had constitutional activists killed.

After the Constitutionalists captured Tehran, he took refuge in the Russian embassy in Tehran and, under both internal and external pressure and humiliation, was forced to leave Iran. Following his exile, the Constitutionalists chose his young son, Ahmad Shah Qajar, as the new monarch.

Mohammad Ali Shah later went into exile in Savona, Italy, where he died in 1344 AH. His body was buried in Karbala.
