SAEDNEWS: Iran Marks Second Anniversary of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah’s Death, Reaffirms Support for Lebanon
According to Saednews, In a statement issued on September 27, Iran’s Foreign Ministry paid tribute to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine and other Hezbollah figures and members of the resistance who were martyred.
The ministry described Nasrallah as a prominent Lebanese and Islamic resistance leader who devoted his life to promoting Islam, defending Lebanon’s dignity and independence, supporting the Palestinian cause, and confronting Israeli occupation and expansionism.
The Foreign Ministry also honored the memory and legacy of IRGC Quds Force Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed al-Ghamari. It also paid tribute to women, men and children who were martyred while defending human dignity against terrorism, occupation and what it described as Zionist-American colonial domination.
The ministry said commemorating the martyrs of the resistance represents honoring an intellectual and political school that rejects submission to oppression and refuses to sacrifice human dignity in the face of occupation, apartheid and coercion.
It described Nasrallah’s three decades of leadership of Lebanon’s resistance against Israeli aggression and occupation, as well as its US supporters, as an example of courage, insight, wisdom and strength.
According to the statement, the legacy of Nasrallah’s struggle will remain embedded in the culture and collective memory of the Lebanese people and the wider region. It added that the people of Lebanon and the region now recognize the significance of his efforts even more clearly.
The statement said recent developments have demonstrated the need for continued resistance against what it called a racist and authoritarian regime that recognizes no limits in its crimes and brutality and does not abide by commitments or agreements.
The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it described as the “heinous and unforgivable crime” committed by Israeli forces in attacking Lebanon and assassinating Nasrallah and his companions, including IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan.
It stressed that all countries have a moral and international legal responsibility to prosecute and punish those responsible for ordering and carrying out the killings.
The ministry said that neither the passage of time nor the repetition and accumulation of crimes would weaken demands for justice and accountability for those responsible.
Reaffirming Iran’s position on Lebanon, the statement said Tehran recognizes Lebanon’s sensitive position as a country located next to what it described as an occupying and terrorist entity. Iran, it added, remains committed to supporting Lebanon’s independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty and national unity.
The statement concluded that a strong and independent Lebanon capable of defending its people and territory is an essential pillar of lasting stability and security across the region.
