SAEDNEWS: Israeli regime forces intensified air and artillery strikes on several areas of southern Lebanon on Sunday, including Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil, and Tyre, while also demolishing homes in the Tyre district.
According to Saednews, Israeli fighter jets, helicopters and artillery units carried out a series of attacks across southern Lebanon on Sunday, hitting residential and commercial areas and further escalating reported violations of the ceasefire in the region.
In Nabatieh, Israeli military helicopters conducted two successive strikes on a shopping centre located along the main road between Mayfadoun and Shoukin, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency and Al Mayadeen.
The second helicopter strike occurred less than 10 minutes after the first, reportedly marking the first documented use of Israeli combat helicopters in the ongoing daily attacks on southern Lebanon.
Israeli fighter jets also carried out three strikes targeting Nabatieh al-Fawqa and areas on the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit. The outskirts of Haris, in the Bint Jbeil district, were also subjected to bombing.
Elsewhere, Israeli artillery shelled Wadi Zbqine early Sunday, while Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire toward Beit Yahoun.
Israeli forces also fired four tank shells at Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district. Lebanese reports said Israeli troops moved toward the centre of the town and that a fire subsequently broke out in the area.
In the Tyre district, the Israeli military demolished several houses in al-Mansouri, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency.
The Israeli military said the airstrikes targeted locations it claimed were being used by Hezbollah to launch drones against Israeli forces occupying Lebanese territory. The attacks followed what Israel described as an “explosive drone” incident.
The latest strikes took place despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024 and brokered by the United States and France. Lebanon and international organizations have repeatedly called on Israel to adhere to the agreement.
Lebanese authorities have described the continued Israeli attacks as repeated violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and as a threat to regional peace and security. Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in parts of southern Lebanon.
