SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore in New York to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the Sahel and West Asia.
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is in New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, held a meeting with Burkina Faso’s foreign minister.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Iran and Burkina Faso, as well as developments in the Sahel region and West Asia.
Araghchi expressed appreciation for Burkina Faso’s participation in a ceremony honoring the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution and thanked the country for its stated positions and for expressing solidarity and sympathy with the Iranian people over what Tehran described as US and Israeli military aggression.
The Iranian foreign minister reaffirmed Iran’s determination to strengthen ties with African countries, particularly members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), and expressed hope that a joint meeting between Iran and the three AES member states would be held at the earliest opportunity.
Araghchi also reiterated Iran’s stated support for the independence and national sovereignty of all countries, while rejecting what he described as French pressure and illegal interference in the internal affairs of African nations.
Burkina Faso’s foreign minister welcomed the growing ties between the two countries and emphasized Burkina Faso’s commitment, along with other AES members, to expanding relations and cooperation with Iran.
