SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the US attacks on Iranian commercial shipping vessels, describing them as a clear violation of international law.
According to Saednews, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday that overnight attacks on oil tankers anchored in Iranian waters were part of what it described as the United States’ ongoing war against Iran and its blockade of the country’s maritime trade.
The ministry said the attacks amounted to a violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter and described them as a war crime and a direct threat to international peace and the safety of commercial shipping.
According to the statement, Iran remains determined to firmly protect its sovereignty and national interests against what it called US state terrorism and aggressive measures. It also accused Washington of waging an economic war through the continued naval blockade and harassment of commercial vessels.
The ministry warned that the United States, along with its allies and partners, would bear responsibility for any consequences resulting from Washington’s continued hostile and interventionist policies in the region.
Meanwhile, the US military said Saturday that it had carried out attacks against three Iranian oil tankers—one near Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf and two others in the Sea of Oman.
