Iraq Proposes Trilateral Security Council with Iran and Saudi Arabia

According to Saednews, Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji said the initiative is intended to address what he described as a “crisis of confidence” between Iran and Saudi Arabia, according to Al Jazeera.

Neither Saudi Arabia nor Iran has immediately commented on the proposed security initiative.

On domestic security, al-Araji said the planned withdrawal of the US-led coalition on September 30 would mark the beginning of a gradual process to place all weapons under state control.
