Iran and Uzbekistan Conduct Political Consultations

According to Saednews, Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Monday for the eighth round of political consultations between the two countries, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding bilateral and regional cooperation.

Araghchi congratulated Uzbekistan on the anniversary of its independence and expressed gratitude to Tashkent for its principled stance regarding U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran. He also thanked Uzbekistan for sending a senior delegation, headed by the Speaker of Parliament, to attend the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader.

The Iranian foreign minister described relations between the two countries as positive, noting regular high-level contacts. He referred to his recent meeting with his Uzbek counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation foreign ministers’ meeting in Kyrgyzstan.

Araghchi emphasized the importance of developing stronger cooperation across areas of mutual interest. He also called for using the strong ties between Tehran and Tashkent to promote greater cooperation between Iran and Central Asian countries through multilateral mechanisms, with the aim of maintaining regional security and expanding economic and trade relations.

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed greetings from the Uzbek Foreign Minister and reaffirmed Tashkent’s readiness to pursue comprehensive cooperation with Iran across various fields.
