Iranian and German Foreign Ministers Hold Talks on Strait of Hormuz Security

According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi briefed German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on ongoing consultations with Oman aimed at creating a secure passage for maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi said the insecurity affecting the strategic waterway was entirely caused by military aggression carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

He urged the international community to hold the US administration responsible for the security and economic repercussions resulting from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed that restoring stability in the waterway would require an end to what he described as US aggression and unlawful interference, including the maritime blockade and other violations of Washington’s commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.

The two foreign ministers also underlined the need to maintain diplomatic engagement and continue consultations through various channels and at different levels.
