SAEDNEWS: Iran's Foreign Minister told his Chinese counterpart on Friday that the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is "solely the result of American oath-breaking."
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks focusing on bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and key agenda items for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Both ministers reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Tehran and Beijing, emphasizing their commitment to expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest. They also pledged to fully implement existing bilateral agreements and make greater use of the SCO and BRICS frameworks to strengthen both bilateral and multilateral collaboration.
During the meeting, Araghchi criticized what he described as U.S. violations of the ceasefire agreement, condemning attacks on Iran's critical infrastructure and alleging violations of international law. He stated that tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the broader region were the result of U.S. actions, which he said disrupted Iran's implementation of its commitments under Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Araghchi reiterated Iran's commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity against military aggression. He also called on governments worldwide to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter and prevent what he described as the growing normalization of the use of force in international relations.
Wang Yi emphasized that lasting peace and stability in West Asia depend on stronger trust and cooperation among regional countries. He also expressed China's willingness to provide assistance in support of regional peace and stability where appropriate.
