SAEDNEWS: The IRGC said its naval and aerospace forces launched a joint missile and drone operation targeting 85 U.S. military sites in response to today's U.S. strikes, and claimed to have shot down an MQ-9 drone.
According to the Political Desk of Saed News Agency, the Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued the following statement:
In the name of God, the Destroyer of Tyrants
Following what it described as the historic and unprecedented funeral procession held by the great Iranian nation for the martyred leader of the Islamic Ummah, and amid what it claimed was the growing exposure of the United States' defeat and the global reflection of the massive turnout by the Iraqi people to bid farewell to the fallen commander, the statement said that the United States once again repeated its alleged pattern of violating agreements.
According to the statement, the U.S. military, described as a "child-killing and terrorist force," carried out airstrikes in the early hours of this morning against several coastal bases and civilian stations along the shores of Hormozgan Province and Mahshahr. The IRGC claimed these attacks constituted a clear violation of the ceasefire and breached the Islamabad understanding.
The statement further claimed that, in an initial response to the alleged attack, the naval and aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted a joint missile and drone operation targeting 85 key U.S. military facilities in Bandar Salman, the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The IRGC also claimed that its forces shot down an American MQ-9 drone that it said had attempted to interfere with the operation.
