SAEDNEWS: As the United States awaits Iran’s new response to the draft agreement aimed at ending the war, a meeting between the U.S. Vice President and Qatari officials has fueled speculation about Doha’s increasingly prominent role in the negotiation process.
According to the political desk of Saed News, as reported by Fars, the website Axios—recently criticized for publishing contradictory reports—has now claimed that in addition to Pakistan, which has been officially introduced as a mediator between Iran and the United States, Qatar is also conducting behind-the-scenes consultations.

The website cited a meeting between JD Vance, former President Donald Trump’s vice president, and Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as evidence supporting this claim. The report referred to Qatar as a “key mediator.”
According to the outlet, U.S. officials believe that the White House considers Qatar’s actions—particularly in the course of negotiations with Iran—to be “effective.” Axios emphasized that Qatar is coordinating its efforts with the Pakistani side.
Following the meeting with Vance, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted, in a statement, discussions between Vance and Al Thani regarding mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
Meanwhile, today (Saturday), The Wall Street Journal reported that there is a possibility of Tehran–Washington negotiations resuming next week.
