SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the latest U.S.‑Israeli airstrikes on two southern Iranian islands were carried out from soil in the United Arab Emirates, adding that this indicates the anti‑Iran attacks are originating from the territory of its neighboring countries.

Iran Says Kharg Island Strike Launched From UAE Territory, Araghchi Warns Tehran Will Retaliate

According to SAEDNEWS, Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi stated in an exclusive interview with MS Now on Saturday that the United States attacked Kharg and Abu Musa Islands using artillery rocket systems, including the low-range HIMARS rockets, from the territory of neighboring countries. “It is crystal clear that they are now using our neighbors’ soil to launch attacks against us with these rockets, which is absolutely unacceptable,” he said.

The US carried out airstrikes early Saturday on the Persian Gulf islands of Kharg and Abu Musa, two weeks after the country, alongside Israel, initiated a campaign of aggression against Iran. The conflict has so far claimed more than 1,400 civilian lives.

“These attacks last night were tracked by our forces, and it is now clear they were launched from two locations in the UAE—Ras al-Khaimah and a site very close to Dubai. It is extremely dangerous to use densely populated areas as launch points. We will certainly retaliate, but we aim to avoid striking any populated area,” Araghchi added.

Strait of Hormuz Closed to Enemy Vessels

Araghchi clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is only closed to tankers and ships belonging to Iran’s enemies and their allies. “Others are free to pass,” he noted. Many vessels continue to transit the strait, while some choose to avoid it due to security concerns, which are unrelated to Iran’s actions.

Iran Vows to Defend Its Territory

The diplomat emphasized that the ongoing conflict, initiated by the United States and Israel on February 28, was imposed on Iran. “We did not start this war. It was an unprovoked, illegal act of aggression against us. We are defending ourselves and will continue to do so as long as necessary to end this war in a way that prevents its repetition in the future.”
