Stunning Video Of Earth’s Sunset Behind The Moon Goes Viral

According to SAEDNEWS, quoting Tasnim News Agency, after the release of several stunning images of the “Earthset behind the Moon” phenomenon during the historic Artemis 2 mission, the mission commander Reid Wiseman has now published a new video of the same event.

At that moment, mission specialist Christina Koch was photographing the Earth’s sunset with her camera. Meanwhile, Wiseman recorded the same scene using his phone.

He wrote on his personal page: “It was hard to see the Moon through the docking window, but the iPhone was the perfect size to capture the view. This video is unedited and zoomed 8x—almost exactly what the human eye would see.”

This is the first time in 54 years that humans have witnessed an Earthset from behind the Moon. The last time was during the Apollo 17 mission.

The Artemis 2 crew traveled more than 5,000 miles (about 8,000 km) beyond the Moon and reached a total distance of over 400,000 km from Earth—the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from the planet.
