Saed News: As Asghar Farhadi’s film “Parallel Stories” approaches its screening at the Cannes Film Festival, it has also been released in French cinemas.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Hamshahri Online, at the same time as “Parallel Stories” is screened in the main competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the film’s public release will begin in more than 400 cinemas across France.
In an interview published in French-language media on the occasion of the film’s public release, Asghar Farhadi spoke about his tenth feature film and referred to a production proposal from an American company that invited him to make a film inspired by one of the stories from the “Dekalog” collection by renowned Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski. “Parallel Stories,” a co-production between France, the United States, Belgium, and Italy, tells the story of a writer who, inspired by a real event unfolding around him, writes a story that unintentionally entangles him in a complex situation.
One of the notable aspects of “Parallel Stories” is the collaboration between Asghar Farhadi and the great Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner. Preisner is known for the music of memorable films such as Three Colors: Blue, Three Colors: Red, Three Colors: White, and The Double Life of Véronique, as well as his acclaimed collaborations with Krzysztof Kieślowski.
The presence of stars from different generations of French cinema in “Parallel Stories” is also noteworthy. Actors including Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney, Adam Bessa, India Hair, and Catherine Deneuve appear in the film.
Other main crew members of “Parallel Stories” include Alexandre Mallet-Guy as producer in his fifth collaboration with Farhadi, Guillaume Defontaines as director of photography, Hayedeh Safiyari as editor, Emmanuelle Duplay as production designer, Saeed Farhadi as co-writer, and Masoumeh Lahiji as the French screenplay translator.
“Parallel Stories” will premiere on Wednesday, May 14, at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
