SAEDNEWS: Kazakhstan and Russia are conducting a planned joint air defense exercise as part of their unified regional air defense system, the Kazinform news agency reported on Saturday.
The exercise, running from Feb. 20 to March 10, focuses on detecting and tracking aerial targets, intercepting aircraft violating airspace, and forcing them to land at designated airfields, the country's Defense Ministry was quoted as saying, Xinhua reported.
The drill aims to enhance coordination, combat readiness and operational capability of the air defense forces, according to the ministry.
