According to the Science and Technology Service of Saednews, citing Khabaronline, the iPhone 15 has claimed the title of the best-selling smartphone of 2024. Samsung’s flagships, led by the Galaxy S24 Ultra, made a return to the list after six years.
The latest report from Counterpoint Research reveals that global smartphone revenue grew by 5% in 2024, with the average selling price (ASP) reaching a new high of $356. This increase reflects a growing consumer demand for premium smartphones.
The iPhone 15 emerged as the best-selling phone of the year, with half of its sales coming from the U.S. and China. Following it, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro took the second and third spots, respectively. Among the competition, Samsung continues to lead the smartphone market in terms of sales volume. While Samsung’s phone sales dropped by 3%, its revenue grew by 2%, thanks to the rise in average selling prices (ASP).
Among Samsung's models, the Galaxy A15 4G secured the fourth spot in the list of the top 10 best-selling phones of the year. The Galaxy S24 Ultra ranked seventh, following the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy A15 5G.
The eighth and ninth spots went to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 16 Pro, respectively. Interestingly, the budget-friendly Galaxy A05 claimed the tenth spot, showing the strong popularity of Samsung’s affordable smartphones in emerging markets.
Experts predict that in 2025, the smartphone market will continue to grow, with a greater focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G devices. Advanced models such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring AI-powered capabilities, are expected to intensify the competition. Additionally, mid-range and budget-friendly 5G smartphones will capture more market share in regions like India, Southeast Asia, and Africa. In this environment, brands like Vivo and Xiaomi, with their competitive pricing strategies, are expanding their market shares.
Given the state of the mobile market in 2024, it’s clear that the demand for innovation—especially in the premium segment—will remain strong. Brands will focus on enhancing camera technology, artificial intelligence, and battery life to attract users."**
