One of the main challenges Android users face when upgrading to a new smartphone is transferring their settings and apps from their old device. Many users find themselves needing to reconfigure various settings, as well as reinstall the numerous apps that were on their old phone but haven't yet been installed on the new one.
Android phones come with a built-in backup feature that saves your settings, Wi-Fi passwords, bookmarks, and app data to Google’s servers. Here’s how to enable it:
Open the Settings menu on your old phone and go to Backup & Reset.
Tap Backup my Data and select your Google account under the Backup account section.
When you turn on your new phone, it will prompt you to transfer data from your old phone. Keep in mind that the process may vary depending on your device.
Once you’ve powered on your new Android device, go through the initial setup until you reach a screen asking if you want to use backups from your previous phone. Select A Backup from the cloud.
Sign in to your Google account by entering your username and password. Once logged in, you’ll see a list of recent backups from your old Android devices. Choose the most recent backup and tap Restore. Your data, including apps, will be restored to your new device.
