SAEDNEWS: France and Germany warned that international sanctions on Iran will automatically return within 30 days unless Tehran shows clear cooperation with the IAEA, though both stressed diplomacy is still possible.

Diplomacy Still Possible, But Iran Faces 30-Day Countdown, Says French FM

According to Saed News quoting Al Jazeera, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot claimed: “We offered Iran to delay sanctions in exchange for goodwill and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, but no response was given.”

He continued: “After 30 days, sanctions against Iran will be reimposed, while at the same time the doors of diplomacy will remain open.”

The French foreign minister added that the snapback mechanism would reinstate both international and European sanctions against Iran.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul made an interventionist remark, saying: “It is clear that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, and therefore the snapback mechanism must automatically activate sanctions.”

He also stressed: “A diplomatic solution is possible, but we need Iran’s clear commitment to cooperate with us.”
