SAEDNEWS: Axios and CNN report that Germany, France, and the UK plan to reactivate sanctions against Iran, accusing Tehran of breaching the 2015 nuclear deal. While the sanction mechanism may take 30 days to enforce, European officials stress that diplomacy remains possible if Iran cooperates with inspections.
Axios, citing its sources, reported that the foreign ministers of the European troika informed Rubio that today, Thursday, they will activate the sanctions mechanism against Iran.
The report added: The leaders of the troika believe that Iran is violating its commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement.
However, the beginning of the process to reimpose sanctions does not mean the end of diplomacy, and the troika is still ready to engage with Iran in the weeks before the sanctions take effect.
Meanwhile, CNN, quoting European officials, reported that Germany, France, and Britain may begin reimposing sanctions against Iran.
These officials say that reimposing sanctions on Iran will take 30 days, and it is hoped that Tehran will take steps to stop this process. They also expressed hope that Iran will seriously participate in negotiations over its nuclear program and allow international inspections of its facilities.
