SAEDNEWS: Hamid Pourmohammadi, head of Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization, stated that non-compliant agencies could face budget cuts next year, while emphasizing that national security remains a top priority.
Hamid Pourmohammadi, regarding the claim that some agencies receiving budgets fail to report their performance, stated: “The claim you mentioned on behalf of representatives has not been communicated to me. If clear examples are provided of which agencies receive funds without merit or which institutions receive funds but fail to report, we will examine them.”
The head of the Plan and Budget Organization emphasized that if such cases are confirmed, they could be removed in next year’s budget law, and the funds redirected to other priorities, including national security.
When asked whether, given the country’s current situation, there might be an increase in the military budget mid-year or whether it should wait until the annual budget is presented, Pourmohammadi said: “National security is an extremely important issue.”
He further stressed: “If, God forbid, security is threatened, the government will take any necessary actions.”
