Saed News: An ancient Iranian chest with an advanced lock for its time (about a thousand years ago) has been discovered; made of metal and wood, it features four coded eight-digit locks that make accessing it impossible for most people.
According to the History Service of Saed News, among Iran’s historical artifacts, there are chests that demonstrate the high level of skill of past craftsmen. One of the most fascinating examples is a metal-and-wood chest dating back about a thousand years. This chest is made from a combination of materials such as wood, precious metals, and special alloys, and even more interestingly, it features four separate locks each secured by an eight-digit code.
The mechanism of these locks is so complex that opening them without a complete understanding of the chest’s internal workings seems nearly impossible. Designing such a system in an era long before digital locks existed is a clear sign of precision and innovation in metalworking and security engineering in ancient Iran. Examples of these artifacts are occasionally seen in museums or private collections.
